SELECTED PROJECTS
West Side Hood River Home: The old farmstead residence was deconstructed and some of the lumber set aside for the new residence. Designed by Paden Prichard and constructed by Green Home Construction, Inc., this 2300 sq ft residence features beautiful arts and craft styling, recycled Douglas fir interior trim, energy efficient lighting, FSC certified lumber, a recycled “eco-slate” roof, a geothermal heating/cooling system and an Energy Recovery Ventilator. See more photos.

Snowden Straw Bale Home: Situated on 30 acres in Snowden, WA, this straw bale home was designed by Green Home Construction, Inc. It was purposely designed from the beginning to maximize the use of solar energy. This energy efficient natural home features a post-in-beam structure in-filled with 18" thick straw bale walls. The resulting super-insulated core will be able to maximize the use of passive solar heating in the winter and keep the home cool in the summer. Friends and volunteers came out to help at the bale raising party. The bales have been plastered and exterior details completed.

Contemporary Mosier Addition: This 1800 sf addition to a hillside home in Mosier married contemporary detailing with a high performance building envelope and renewable energy system. The building shell was airsealed after framing and then tested with a blower door to ensure we met our goal of achieving air leakage of less than 1.5 air changes per hour at 50 pa. The walls were then dense packed with cellulose and the roof was insulated to R-60. This tight super-insulated shell allowed us to reduce the size and cost of the high performance heat pump. The roof holds a 4900 watt PV system with a 2-collector solar hotwater system. See more photos.

Timber and Glass Awning: Located on a hilltop between Mosier and The Dalles, this awning provides the owners with protection from the wind while allowing majestic views of the Gorge.

Commercial Face Lift: A timber-frame solar awning highlights this commercial renovation. The old facade was removed and replaced with wood siding to update the appearance of the building. The timber-frame awning shades the entrances to the building and supports the solar electric system panels.

Timbered Barn Addition: Located in Hood River's west side.

Mosier Straw Bale Home: This 2200 sq ft straw bale home was designed and built by Green Home Construction, Inc. It features a passive solar design, super insulation, advanced framing techniques, extensive use of recycled building materials, rain water collection system, super insulated windows and many other sustainable features.

Mosier Town Homes Pool: This pool and exercise room was designed by Surround Architecture and built by Green Home Construction Inc. Key features include: Passive solar design, energy efficient lighting, solar pool heating, no volatile organic compound (VOC) paints and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified lumber.

Cape Horn Deconstruction: Our largest deconstruction project to date. Green Home Construction worked in partnership with Dave Bennick of ReUse Consulting and the Gorge Rebuild It Center to deconstruct 14,000 sq feet of residential buildings.
